Call for Posters

Poster Submission Closed

The eighth annual International Conference on Research in Computational Molecular Biology (RECOMB 2004) is being organized by the San Diego Supercomputer Center, University of California at San Diego, and the International Society for Computational Biology. The conference will be held from March 27 to March 31, 2004, at the Westin Hotel Horton Plaza in San Diego.

Keynote speakers are Carlos Bustamante, Russell Doolittle, Andrew Fire, Richard Karp, William McGinnis, Deborah Nickerson, Martin Nowak, Christine Orengo, and Elizabeth Winzeler. Approximately 35 other speakers will be chosen out of about 215 submitted papers.

Posters reporting on original research (both theoretical and experimental) in all areas of computational molecular biology are currently being sought. Examples are:

  • Genomics
  • Molecular sequence analysis
  • Recognition of genes and regulatory elements
  • Molecular evolution
  • Protein structure
  • Gene expression
  • Gene networks
  • Combinatorial libraries and drug design
  • Computational proteomics
  • Computational genomics
  • Microarray design and data analysis
  • Structural and functional genomics

The abstracts of accepted posters will be published in book form and will be available at the meeting and subsequently posted on the Web. The following instructions must be followed exactly if a poster is to be accepted. Acceptance is conditional on at least one of its authors preregistering for RECOMB electronically before February 3, 2004 (see http://recomb04.sdsc.edu/).

Poster abstracts should be submitted online (see form below) in a pdf format. Templates are available for common text editors: LaTeX, Word. Please download the template of your choice, and edit it with the appropriate software program. Make sure that during editing you preserve all formating parameters of the original template (for example, do not remove any formatting tags in the LaTeX template). The length of the abstract should fit on two pages after conversion to pdf and its content should be organized according to the following structure. Files we cannot open or which do not satisfy the format instructions will be returned.

In summary:

  • All abstracts must be submitted via our web site by the abstract deadline 11:59pm (GMT+10h) January 16, 2004.
  • During the submission process, check that the information submitted in different form fields (abstract title, authors, etc) is in agreement with the content of the abstract.
  • At least one of the poster authors must be present at the conference.
  • Space for posters is limited, and we may not be able to accept all poster submissions. If the amount of poster abstracts exceeds the capacity, every effort will be made to ensure that all groups who wish to participate in the poster are represented.
  • Presenters of accepted posters will be notified by February 1, 2004.
  • The size of the poster space is: Height: 1m, Width: 1m. Fasteners will be provided at the site, please DO NOT bring tape, tacks or pins.
  • There is a maximum of two posters per presenting author.
