Welcome to the 16th RECOMB-CCB
Welcome to the website of the 16th edition of RECOMB-CCB, a workshop focused on Computational Cancer Biology, satellite of the 28th edition of the popular RECOMB conference.
RECOMB-CCB brings together leading researchers in the mathematical, computational, and life sciences to discuss emerging frontiers in computational cancer research. Advent of exciting technologies such as single-cell multi-omics, spatial sequencing, and digital pathology opens new horizons for the analysis of tumor tissues. New analysis tools reveal novel aspects of cancer complexity, including the tumor mutational and phenotypic landscape, evolutionary history, or interactions with the microenvironment. The emphasis of all contributed work will be on applying algorithmic, mathematical, and statistical approaches to improve our understanding of cancer and on the development of useful, effective, and efficient new methods in this area
RECOMB-CCB 2024 invites contributions in all areas of computational cancer biology. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Cancer genomics, transcriptomics and epigenomics
- Single-cell and spatial sequencing technologies
- Functional and systems biology
- Immunotherapy
- Mathematical modeling of cancer
- Digital pathology
- Tumor microenvironment
- Cancer evolution
Keynote Speakers
- Franziska Michor, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Dr. Michor is a Professor of Computational Biology in the Department of Data Science at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, in the Department of Biostatistics at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and in the Department of Stem Cell and Regenerative Biology at Harvard University. Dr. Michor’s laboratory investigates the evolutionary dynamics of cancer initiation, progression, response to therapy, and emergence of resistance. - Peter Park, Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Park is a Professor of Biomedical Informatics at Harvard Medical School and the director of its Bioinformatics and Integrative Genomics PhD program. His laboratory has developed several algorithms for genome analysis, especially for identification of structural alterations from whole-genome sequencing data, and has made substantial contributions to consortium projects such as The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), Encyclopedia of DNA Elements (ENCODE), and Brain Somatic Mosaicism Network, and 4D Nucleome (4DN). - Eliezer Van Allen, Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Eliezer (Eli) Van Allen is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, Chief of the Division of Population Sciences at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, an Institute Member at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, and a Member Researcher in The Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. As both a medical oncologist and computational biologist, he develops algorithms to dissect high-dimensional data directly from cancer patients and uses these insights to address major open questions in the field. Dr. Van Allen’s research has led to significant advances in understanding the molecular origins of cancer, using artificial intelligence to discover novel resistance mechanisms to cancer therapies, and defining how genomics can guide clinical decision-making. Through these initiatives, he created the field of clinical computational oncology to advance and enable precision cancer medicine worldwide. - Gad Getz, Broad Institute.
Dr. Getz directs the Cancer Genome Computational Analysis group at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, where he is an institute member. Under Getz’s leadership, the Cancer Genome Analysis group has established itself as a world leader in the development and application of genomic technologies and next-generation sequencing for analyzing cancer mutations.
