RECOMB Satellites at UC San Diego

May 20-21, 2022

Satellites hosted at UCSD:
RECOMB-CCB,
RECOMB-CG,
RECOMB-Genetics,
RECOMB-Seq

LOCATION:
The conference is at the University of California, San Diego.

Once you are on campus by either public transportation or driving, use “Warren Bear” in Google Maps for walking directions.

Register at the Calit2 Lobby (California Institute of Telecommunications and Information Technology) in Atkinson Hall.

Calit2 / Atkinson Hall (1st floor):
  • Registration, posters, and refreshments for all four satellites: Calit2 Lobby
  • RECOMB-CCB: Calit2 Auditorium
  • RECOMB-Seq: Calit2 Theater
  • Scientific Communication (CCB/Seq joint session Saturday afternoon): Calit2 Auditorium
CSE (Computer Science and Engineering):
  • RECOMB-CG: CSE 1242 (1st floor)
  • RECOMB-Genetics: CSE 4140 (4th floor)
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION:

Use Google Maps for directions from your location. It includes the trolley and bus routes and timetables. If you’re at the Marriott, it’s two stops away on the trolley.

Buy a PRONTO fare card (for trolley & bus) at the airport or at the trolley station, or install their mobile app. Tap/scan it on a validator machine at each trolley platform before boarding, and on each bus upon boarding. Buses also accept cash (exact change).

  • Take the trolley (UC San Diego Blue Line) to UC San Diego Central Campus Station.
  • Or take bus routes 30 or 41 to Gilman Dr. & Myers Dr. (also called the Gilman Transit Center).

RIDE SHARE:
Set the location to Ucsd Canyon View Pool, La Jolla, CA“. This is a passenger loading zone near the conference. Do not drop off or pick up on the road adjacent to the conference buildings.

Don’t use “UCSD” or “9500 Gilman Dr”; the whole campus uses that address for mailing purposes, but it won’t get you to the right place.

Alternate ride share locations: Equality Ln, La Jolla” and Justice Ln, La Jolla“.

The Lyft app may show a map/menu of designated UCSD drop-off locations; these are in Warren and are called Aquatic CenterEquality Ln, and Justice Ln.

Parking at UC San Diego

All UCSD parking lots require a UCSD parking permit, or visitor pay parking in selected lots. You may pay at a kiosk in each parking lot (cash or credit card) or install the ParkMobile app on your phone to pay online by credit card.

We recommend different parking lots for Friday vs. Saturday because the nearby parking lots cost a lot more on weekdays, and the shuttle bus from the cheaper but farther lots doesn’t run on weekends.

For Google Maps directions, use the parking structure names shown below.
